From the shores of WWII Italy in 1943, to the bitter frost-biting snowpack during the Battle of the Bulge, to the frozen mountains of the Korean War, the M1943 Field Jacket was the most widely used outer wear jacket in the 1940s/50s era.  It was worn by US Army soldiers, US Marines, and US Airman from the mid period of WWII and thereafter. It would eventually be superseded by the M51 and M65 series field uniforms.

The design of this garment underwent several pattern changes as it was first being developed in WWII.  Of those, we decided to duplicate our version after the oversized "B" pattern M1943 field jacket which allowed for more room and use of a separate pile fur jacket liner (Not available from us, yet!).  Therefore, always remember that our jackets are extremely roomy for the marked size.  Please keep this in mind when ordering.

We had our own beautiful windproof 100% cotton sateen fabric custom woven for us to the correct fabric spec with a luxurious sheen to the face.  You will note that the US army made these uniforms with the fabric's back (dull) side out which we do as well.  After weaving, we finish our fabric in an authentic shade of Olive Drab military spec dye that was commonly representative of jackets from the WWII era.  We also apply an authentic vintage type of durable water repellency finish THAT IS NOT SILICONE OR TEFLON BASED.  These modern DWR treatments leave the fabric feeling too soft for military uniforms and don't result in a heftiness to the garment as they should.  Buttons used are custom solid color cast in the authentic shade, size, and style.  Thread used is 100% cotton dyed to an authentic shade with some OD shaded polyester thread used in the interior construction for strength.  Our jackets even include authentic contractor pocket labeling.  The jacket includes an authentic waist drawing cord laced into leather eyelets sewn into the cotton jacket lining just like on the originals.  An inked sizing stamp is placed on the jacket lining just under the collar as was done in the "B" pattern jackets from WWII.  We are confident that our jackets are the most authentic jacket in pattern cut, fit, appearance, construction, and durability.  No one makes these quality jackets as authentically as we do!

We offer jackets made according to vintage dimensions for fit in regular sizes from 36 to 54.  We also offer long sizes only in 40 and 44.  If you are over 6'3" tall and have a very thin waist you really should consider a long size for a better length.

OD Cotton Field Trousers (AKA M43 trousers) made from the same cotton windproof sateen fabric that goes with this jacket is also available in a standard model or with added "airborne division" style canvas cargo pockets and tie straps affixed to the legs.
