GMC CCKW 353 2-1/2 Ton Cargo Truck
One of my pet passions has been the restoration of my WWII era GMC CCKW 353 2-1/2 ton Cargo Truck. This model is the most common cargo moving vehicle in military service at the time. Hundreds of these trucks made up the historic Red Ball Express European supply chain conveyor, while others made many trips over the "Hump" across the Himalayan Mountains in the Pacific campaign during WWII. I've owned this truck since 1994 and have enjoyed restoring and maintaining it ever since. It is 98% stock and runs on the original 6 volt system. My next project is restoring my 1 ton Ben Hur Cargo Trailer. Some enthusiasts refer to these trucks as "duce-n-half" or "6-by", but the period correct name for these trucks was "2-1/2 ton truck" or "Jimmy".
My jimmy is available to rent for film or exhibition work. Any inquiries should contact me directly at 562-946-6768 Rates vary according to distance traveled and length of rental. Below are photos of my truck.
