Historical Reference Websites

• War in California A website to explain its independence from Mexico and subsequent statehood.  California had a very turbulent history as it became a state of the Union.  Definitely worth reading to understand the California people as Texas was not the only republic to fight for independence from Mexico.  Little of this is known but General Kearny and Com. Stockton were not fighting Mexicans, they were fighting Californians in defense of their country.  Had California not become a state, California could have very easily become a British Commonwealth or Russian outpost.
• Army Clothing History Quartermaster Museum Quartermaster Foundation. An excellent website explaining historical data on various uniform topics. A must for every collector. (And customer of WWII Impressions!)
• This 101st ABN website was created by WW2 historian Mark Bando, who is soley responsible for its contents.
• Grunt's Military Site was designed as an aid for people researching the various branches of the United States' armed forces.

• Marine Bombing Squadron 613 A site commemorating the service of the officers and men of Marine Bombing Squadron Six-Thirteen.
• The 107th Cavalry was stationed in California from about 1942 through 1944 before being shipped to the ETO. 
• The Acme Depot A website dedicated to information on various pieces of AAF uniforms and equipment.
• Marine Corps legacy Museum focusing USMC history from 1775 to today.
• WW2 Gyrene, a tribute to the World War II Marine. Here you will find information about the Pacific War and the men who fought it.
• The M-1 Helmet  A reference website dedicated to the steel helmet of the WWII soldier.
• VI Corps Combat Engineers This is a website written by the daughter of one of this unit's veterans.  A Very informative resource.
• Panzermuseum.Com aims to bring you a selection of documents from the captured German War records collection at the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

• Steel Pots, The History of America's Steel Combat Helmets.  A website promoting a new DVD produced by the author of the book with said name.

• This site is dedicated to the Deutsches Panzermuseum Munster, one of the premier armor museums in the world.The museum shows the development of Germany's armored troops from 1917 to the present with displays of vehicles, weapons, equipment, uniforms, documents and medals. The museum's exhibits cover all branches of the German armored corps: tanks, mechanized infantry, armored reconnaissance, anti-tank, self-propelled artillery, and armored engineers.
