Nothing says "Trooper" like this
item! This headgear was the standard issue hat
worn by enlisted men and officers dating since before WWI and
was sometimes worn in lieu of the early M1917 "Tin Hat" helmet.
Marines wore them in the early days of WWI and in WWII as well.
This hat was still in use in 1941 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. By
1942 it was already being fazed out and replaced by the M1 steel helmet
and liner though many troops continued wearing them in the Pacific
Theater. Many folks have come to know this hat as the M1911
style "Campaign
Hat" with the classic "Montana Peak" four dent styling.
Our hats are professional grade made to
our specs in the USA by Stratton Hat Company with extra stiff and double
thick genuine fur felt. Hat cords with acorns in special colors
are customarily worn around the circumference of the hat and are needed
in order to affix a three piece brown leather chin strap. An
Enlisted or Officer's emblem (sold separately) is attached to the front
via ventilation eyelet. A high quality sheepskin
leather sweatband is stitched to the hat for comfort. Eyelets are
installed all around for ventilation.
Hat cords with solid acorns were worn in
the various colors denoting the branch of service of the soldier.
Sizes and branch colors that we offer are indicated in the drop down menu are the only
ones that we have available. Please note that the use of the enlisted
and officer's hat emblems as depicted above was NOT regulation, and is
for photographic purposes only.
