Stand at the door!
This headgear item is a unique style of garrison cap that was initially adopted by
the Paratroopers of the US Army. This cap was authorized to be
worn at all times even while still in training within "stateside". This was NOT a general
issue cap provided by the Army but was a private purchase item that
soldiers would buy at their local Post Exchange or PX and were
authorized to wear with
their uniform. This style cap was unique due to the omission of
the gusset along the top edge of the cap. This made
for more pronounce peaks at the front and back of the cap giving the
wearer a very sharp appearance. Paratroopers were authorized this
style of cap along with their brown paratrooper boots. Eventually,
as WWII progressed the wearing of this popular style cap fanned out to
many troops throughout the US Army. A cap patch
was affixed to the front of the cap to further designate parachute or
glider units in the infantry, artillery, medical, etc, branches of
service. Note that the US Army required the wearing of the
combined "Para-glider" cap patch for all airborne troops entering the
European Theater of Operations Normandy invasion. Now, whether the
very proud paratroops followed the cap patch regs. was another thing
entirely...
Just as with the standard version cap
shown above, this cap displayed the enlisted man's
branch of service with a colored piping along the top
edge of the outer band. Enlisted branches of service the we offer
are shown in the drop down menu below.
Sizes that we offer are indicated in the drop down menu are the only
ones that we have available. This khaki cap is only offered with
Infantry blue piping.
Price $30.00 each.
